SummerSingleton
Rhythm, pattern and feeling, set down in acrylic by a doctor who never meant to become a painter, and has now put down the brush.
She does not like art.She cannot leave alonewhat it does.
Summer Singleton came to painting from medicine, and she brought its habits with her: the count of a pulse, the pattern of a breath, the discipline of looking at something until it tells you what it is.
Each canvas is built through repeated, rhythmic motion, with brush, knife and often her bare hands. The pattern comes from repetition. The feeling comes from everything the hand cannot keep perfectly still.
She has now retired from painting. The works shown here are the whole of it.
